About Us

Together, we—Kadi and Justin—opened The Butcher Meat Co. in 2022 right here in Vinemont, Alabama, with a dream, a lot of hard work, and a deep love for great food and community. Just two months later, that dream grew into something even bigger when we hosted our very first BBQ competition.

We shut down the street, fired up the pits, and threw one heck of a party. What started as The Butcher’s Backyard Grill Off quickly became something special—filled with laughter, smoke, music, and a whole lot of heart. We loved every minute of it.

In the two years that followed, the Town of South Vinemont stepped in and carried the festival forward as the Grillin’ N Chillin’ event, doing an incredible job growing it and keeping the tradition alive. As first-time business owners, those early years were tough, and we’ll always be grateful for their support while we focused on building our business and our family.

Fast forward to 2026, and we are beyond proud to bring the cookoff back home. With full hearts and big plans, we’re officially reintroducing the event as The Butcher’s Smoke & Flames BBQ Cookoff—a celebration of BBQ, community, and the passion that started it all.

This year marks an exciting new chapter as a KCBS-sanctioned competition, and we’re just getting started. We have big visions for the years ahead and can’t wait to grow this event with the love and support of our local community—and friends from far and wide.
